If you prefer cookie cutter, formulaic processes for “how to be authentic” or self help gurus that are advertised as quick fixes. There ain’t no quick fixes to doing your own work for self improvement and creative expression. You just need to show up for yourself.
Trite, platitudes that carefully cultivate and whisper to you “do it this way” so it’s a subtle model to become like someone else, vs. doing the introspection, reflection, and listening to what is your truth. Becoming more whole, and authentic is about getting deep with yourself, your spirit, and your trusted community. Less formulaic and copycat, more let’s fucking-tear-it-down with our creative powers and figure out how you want to live, love, learn, and let your wild side loose.
When you think about “nurturing your self” or “self care practices” — you ONLY think of chocolate, bubble baths, candles, journal prompts. This isn’t about trivializing a women’s spiritual journey and intuitive creative gifts as “meme worthy”. This is about you, and creating your spirit that is her.
Defining words through only a patriarchal Christian lens. Making the words holy, sacred, ritual, traditions, scriptures ONLY the ones that talk about G (with a big G) or Jesus only isn’t inclusive enough for me. HSC is for tearing down systems of oppression that keep women, and other marginalized people in our place, including holier-than-thou religions.
You just want a blessing, a penance, or even a sprinkle of “woo woo”, crystal wearing spiritual guidance. Her Spirit Creates, we don’t have the answers… you do. Sure, we LOVE Oracle Cards, Affirmation Artwork and Snarky Magnets but these are spiritual tools. Being spirtual is your path. Your journey and YOU create it by being yourself.
